What’s the best part of being 79? “I don’t have to worry about a house anymore. I don’t have to worry about the light bulbs or this or that. And if I want to eat in the cafe I can eat in the cafe. What I like about being here is that everybody is so friendly and they’re really nice people. I don’t think I’m going to live as long as my mother and her sisters. I have COPD. I was a smoker from the age of 16 to my early 40s. I’m closer to heaven now; I’m on the down side of this.” (Baltimore, Md.)
