Katherine, 88

(2/3) What’s the best part of being 88? “Standing upright. And I have a wonderful, wonderful family. My children are all friends with each other. They married nice. We see each other as much as possible. We meet at my house on Friday evenings. We party together and have celebrations. I won a $225 lottery from the Raven’s Roost so I wrote on the envelope, “party time,” and I gave it to my daughter. She put it in her china cupboard, and as soon as we can we will have a crab feast.”

What is the worst part of being 88? “I don’t find anything bad about it other than you start breaking down with your health. I still do my baking and gardening. But I don’t cut my grass anymore.”
