(2/3) “I went to Andrew Jackson High School in Queens. I didn’t like it. My grandmother had moved from Manhattan to Queens, and I didn’t want to go. All my friends were going to high school in Manhattan. Andrew Jackson was a big. It took a while to make friends. I stayed to myself a lot. The only thing about Queens that I liked was summertime. You could plant flowers and there was a lot of grass. The houses with the flowers and stuff—I liked that part. And in the wintertime, you had to shovel the snow. I remember I came out of Queens to go to work, and you’d get to Manhattan and there would be no snow on the ground. I stayed in Queens until after my grandmother got sick, and then we moved downtown to Avenue D and 3rd Street.”
