Mary Ellen, 84

“I have a very nice boyfriend who is also retired. He’s 89. We’ve been dating for about five years. A friend of mine, who is a nurse, took care of his wife for a number of years before she died. And she said to me (I was divorced), ‘I would like you to meet this man, he was very kind to his wife.’ And I thought, ‘that’s a good recommendation.’ And he really is very nice. I can call him almost anytime and say, ‘hey, I have to go shopping. I have to go to the grocery store. Will you take me?’ And he will. My daughter lives in Lansdale and she isn’t always available but she takes me sometimes. I’m afraid to take the driving test because I’m afraid I would fail. I asked the oncologist if I can drive, and she said, ‘I’d like you to see a neurologist first.’ So I went to the neurologist and she said, ‘your legs are still weak, wait awhile.’”
